Kate Kallonen
Registered Psychotherapist
Kate Kallonen is a Registered Psychotherapist with over ten years of experience providing psychotherapy for children, youth, and families. Her work is grounded in a neuro-affirming and relational approach that values connection, emotional safety, and meaningful growth for both children and caregivers.
Kate integrates Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills and strategies, to support clients in developing felt safety, emotional regulation, and resilience in mental health and wellbeing. Kate also practices Relationship Development Intervention (RDI®) a program specifically designed to support parents in understanding their child and navigate developmental differences like Autism and ADHD. The program is foundational for goals related to social engagement, co-regulation, and reframing challenging behaviours.
Kate supports parents and caregivers in strengthening their role as emotional guides and co-regulators for their children. Therapy often involves a family model—helping caregivers and children understand one another’s experiences, build trust and attunement, and find new ways to connect.
Through compassionate, evidence-based care, Kate helps families move toward greater understanding, regulation, and confidence in their shared journey of development and connection.
